Dr.
Lewis Slaten is the founder of the IUVTL. Dr. Slaten is an internationally
recognized leader of textile and apparel evaluation and testing
with over 30 years of textile experience. He is professor emeritus
at Auburn University taught courses in textiles, apparel evaluation
and advanced polymer studies.
Dr. Slaten was also instrumental in developing and writing the
testing protocols and labeling standards approved by AATCC, ASTM,
the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Consumer Product Safety
Commission (CPSC), that are used today in the U.S.
