STEP 3 - UV Transmittance Testing

- Spectrophotometer testing
- UPF,
UVA & UVB transmittance, and UVA
& UVB blockage
STEP 4 - Labeling
- Standard:
ASTM D6603
- Required Labeling Elements
- UPF value
- Classification
category, either Good UV Protection, Very Good UV Protection,
or Excellent UV Protection
- Statement that the UV-protective textile
product has been labeled according to this ASTM standard guide
- Optional Labeling Elements
- Percent UV-B and UV-A blocked value or percent
UV-block value
- Statement that the UV-protection value
indicates the lowest amount of protection that can be expected
during the
life of the product
- Statement that the product reduces exposure
to harmful UV-A nad UV-B rays
- Statement that no textile product provides
100% protection from UV radiation
